Event: The U.S. Embassy in Qatar is implementing a shelter-in-place for all personnel. We recommend all Americans do the same until further notice.

Actions to Take:

• Find a secure location within your residence or another safe building. Have a supply of food, water, medications, and other essential items.
• Avoid demonstrations, keep a low profile, and stay aware of your surroundings.
• Monitor local media for breaking news. Be prepared to adjust your plans.
• Keep your phone charged and maintain communication with family and friends to inform them of your status.
• Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP ) to receive the latest updates on security in Qatar.

Location: Qatar

Event: The U.S. Embassy in Qatar continues to maintain a shelter-in-place for all personnel. We recommend all Americans do the same until further notice. Please remain vigilant, as the Iranian government and its proxies may seek to target Americans in retaliation for U.S. strikes against Iran. Qatari airspace is closed. All non-essential personnel should avoid all military installations.

The consular section has canceled all routine consular appointments for the week of March 1st. We will communicate when the consular section returns to normal operations.

Actions to Take:

• Find a secure location within your residence or another safe building. Have a supply of food, water, medications, and other essential items.
• Avoid demonstrations, keep a low profile, and stay aware of your surroundings.
• Pay close attention to official communications from the Qatari government and the U.S. Embassy.
• Follow the instructions of local authorities.
• Monitor local media for breaking news. Be prepared to adjust your plans.
• Keep your phone charged and maintain communication with family and friends to inform them of your status.
