Qatar: Parents irked at treatment meted out to boy hit by ?H1N1 flu?

DOHA: A boy suspected to be infected with H1N1 is being treated at Hamad General Hospital, Al Sharq reports.

About 10 days ago, the child was taken to Al Sadd paediatric emergency with high fever and was given medication for normal cold, the daily reported, quoting the parents.

The child was later taken to a private hospital after his condition deteriorated. There he received treatment for a few days for a lung infection and was later discharged, with instructions to continue medication at home.

However, the parents on Tuesday afternoon took him back to Al Saad paediatric emergency, where he was admitted for further treatment. The next afternoon he was transferred to Hamad General Hospital, said the daily.

DOHA: A second case of H1N1 has been reported in Qatar within a week, an Arabic daily reported yesterday.

The sister of an expatriate boy, who was admitted at the Hamad General Hospital last week following a suspected H1N1 infection, has also tested positive for the virus, the daily said. She is also being treated at HGH,

it added.

The two-and-a-half year old boy was admitted at HGH on March 19 and remained there until March 21. He was discharged with instructions to continue medication at home, the daily said, quoting his parents.

The parents had earlier claimed that the boy was not immediately isolated at the hospital but was kept with three other children in a room for several hours.
