Private doctors investigated for generating false death certificates for covid-19 patients
According to the Mexico City Prosecutor's Office, an underreporting of deaths from coronaviruses could be generated in the context of the pandemic
The Government of Mexico City, through the Attorney General's Office, investigates the participation of private doctors in a criminal network, which according to the authorities would have manipulated around 500 death certificates during this period by Covid-19 .
According to the inquiries, the doctors altered the official documents and established that the deaths were due to viral pneumonia, atypical pneumonia or respiratory failure, when the reality was different.
Furthermore, according to the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, by carrying out this illegal activity, the defendants obtained significant economic gains.
"The information that I have from the Ministry of Health is that given these operations that were carried out to end coyotaje and the collection of these records from different people, there were doctors, especially private doctors, not who worked in the Government of the City, especially private individuals who were involved in this service charge, so the Prosecutor's Office did the right thing, file the complaint with the Public Ministry and the Comptroller's Office in the case of a person who is probably involved in the City Government and who the Office of the Prosecutor carry out the investigation and sanction everything that should be sanctioned, "said Claudia Sheinbaum, head of government of the CDMX.
The complaint of these events was filed by the Health Protection Agency, since in addition to its staff detecting various irregularities in the filling in various death certificates, they also realized that in recent months around 500 of these documents disappeared.
"Obviously what we are doing in these cases is, facilitating all the paperwork and remembering that the process is absolutely free so that people do not have to resort to a third party to carry out their procedures."
