Pregnant women show reduced immunity to H1N1 flu

An Australian study has shown that women ? and especially pregnant women ? have reduced immune humoral responses to the pandemic H1N1 influenza strain that is still in circulation.

Analysis of serological responses in 88 people with confirmed H1N1 2009 influenza showed that women had a lower antibody responses to the strain compared to men, with 82% showing seroprotection afterwards, compared to 92% of men.

That's interesting and important research since women, (non-pregnant), were being told that men have weaker immune systems due to hormonal differences by at least one media source back in 2009.
