Framingham State College officials are monitoring a student for a possible case of the swine flu, a spokesman said.

The student sought treatment at MetroWest Medical Center, but was not tested for H1N1, said FSC spokesman Peter Chisholm. In an e-mail sent to students on Sunday, school officials described the student?s diagnosis as a ?probable? swine flu case.

?I?m sure other campuses have students with these symptoms,? Chisholm said. ?The student is being monitored. Everyone has to take precautions and try to avoid passing germs.?

The e-mail to students states the student?s immediate contacts were notified of the symptoms and an ?isolated living? space was made available for the student, who lives out of state. The e-mail says the student was to remain in residence there, until fever-free for 24 hours.

Chisholm said this morning he does not know the gender of the student or whether the student is on campus.

A hospital spokeswoman could not be immediately reached for comment.
