Portugal: COVID-19 - 62,813 cases, 1,855 deaths.

Portugal registers 1,289 deaths related to covid-19 today, 12 more than on Thursday, and 30,200 infected, another 288, according to the epidemiological bulletin released today by the Directorate-General for Health.


In comparison with the data from Thursday, which recorded 1,277 deaths, today there was an increase of deaths of 0.9 percent.

LISBON, May 28 (Xinhua) -- A study released on Thursday indicated that the number of critically ill patients admitted to the intensive care units (ICUs) in Portugal due to COVID-19 would have tripled in the first half of April without the confinement measures imposed by the government.

Researchers from the National School of Public Health (ENSP) of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa noted that, without the lockdown, the National Health Service (SNS) would have to receive 748 critically ill patients in the ICUs, almost tripling the 229 patients who needed that kind of care.

There are already 1528 deaths and 38 841 of covid-19 in Portugal, according to data released this Saturday in the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS). One more person died and another 377 cases of the new coronavirus were confirmed in 24 hours. The total number of recovered cases is 24,906. There are 422 infected people hospitalized, 70 in intensive care.
