Krasne Potockie. Another outbreak of bird flu. The poultry was disposed of since dawn
Another outbreak of avian flu was found in our region. This time in Krasne Potock in the Che?miec commune. Today, the gassing of sick animals continued from dawn. - Please be especially careful and follow all the guidelines of the District Veterinary Doctor in Nowy S?cz - are appealing the representatives of the local government of Che?mno.
The first two outbreaks of pathogenic bird disease were detected on March 20 in Bielanka (Gorlice commune). Six thousand laying hens and over ten thousand turkeys for slaughter were finally gassed there. It was the first recorded case of avian influenza in Ma?opolska, which we wrote about -> here. Yesterday, the head of the Che?miec commune informed that the plague had also reached the town of Krasne Potockie. Some of the poultry in the poultry houses died. It turned out that the culprit is precisely the HPAI virus of the H5N8 subtype.
The utilization of sick animals continued from dawn. Just after 6.00 a.m., firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Department Krasne Potockie and RGN No. in Nowy S?cz were ordered to operate in the henhouses. There were also present: representatives of the County Veterinary Inspector in Nowy S?cz, the Grupa Azoty Chemical Rescue Unit from the Tarn?w branch, a company from Krynica Zdr?j dealing with disinfection of vehicles entering and leaving the infected zone and decontamination of clothes and equipment used on site, as well as a company dealing with the carriage of carcasses.
,, The area of ??the outbreak was marked out by a fence around the henhouses. The activities carried out by the Krasne Potockie TSO team before the arrival of the PSP team consisted in placing disinfection mats in three places. The first one at the exit from the outbreak area, the second one located approximately 20 meters away, and the third one at the exit to the municipal road. Further actions of the TSO team consisted in dismantling part of the wall in order to gain access for the wheel loader. The activities of the Grupa Azoty Chemical Rescue Unit, Tarn?w branch, consisted of gassing the remaining birds and loading them onto a vehicle for transporting dead animals. Please strictly follow the principles of biosecurity:
protect the feed against the access of wild animals;
do not feed poultry outside of buildings where poultry are kept;
use protective clothing and footwear on the farm and wash hands with soap and water after each contact with poultry or wild birds;
use disinfecting mats at the entrances and exits of buildings where poultry is kept;
it is advisable to keep poultry in designated rooms without the possibility of free movement in an open range.
