[FONT=noto_sansregular] Chief Veterinary Officer announced the occurrence of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) subtype H5N8, which was detected in wild birds on Polish territory.

Avian influenza virus subtype H5N8 was confirmed in the pooled samples taken from 5 dead wild ducks and gulls 1.

Delay of about 50 pieces of dead birds found near the water reservoir in the municipality of Dabie Goleni?w, in the district of Goleni?w, in the province.Pomeranian.

From dead animals were sampled and sent it to the National Veterinary Institute - National Research Institute in Pulawy.

Veterinary Inspection calls for all poultry breeders, in particular having a farm near bodies of water kept careful and apply appropriate measures bioasekuracji minimize the risk of transmission of avian influenza virus to the farm.

Among the activities of preventive recommend:
- Protection against access feed wild animals
- Not feeding poultry outdoors,
- The use of the farm clothing and safety footwear,

In addition, operators should inform the relevant people and institutions in case of suspicion of contagious poultry disease.
