The press report tries to link the death of the boy to drugs. However it looks like influenza was the cause of death. According to relatives who wrote on a Polish forum the mother gave a sirup to her son. The child died later while sleeping.
We will wait for the results of the autopsy .
In general the level of influenza activity in Poland is low; no influenza deaths were reported.
Two year old child died after swallowing drugs
The child swallowed drugs given by his mother and stopped breathing. Prosecutor's Office ordered an autopsy. The boy died after swallowing drugs.
The drama took place on Monday
- From our preliminary findings show that the child was a cold and his mom gave him medication. Then had to go with the child to the doctor. After some time, a woman noted, however, that the son is not breathing. The boy was livid. There were traces of vomit - said Rafał Burnicki, deputy commander of the police miasteckiej.
The boy's mother called an ambulance. The doctor immediately attempted to resuscitate the child, but the boy could not be saved.
Prosecutor's Office yesterday ordered an autopsy and an investigation initiated.
- A post mortem examination is to clarify the cause of death of the child. In this case, an investigation is mandatory - says Beata Novosad, district prosecutor in Miastko.
