There is an outbreak of measles in three villages in the Vanimo-Green district of Sundaun Province.
The Health Department confirmed this yesterday saying that measles is a contagious disease and it is too early to determine the magnitude of the outbreak and whether the disease has already spread to other parts of the province, or country.
?The country must be on alert and report immediately to health centres or hospitals if a person presents with fever or rash with runny nose or red eyes and seek medical help,? Health Secretary Pascoe Kase said.
According to the health department, the outbreak was detected on August 23.
