MANILA – The number of typhoid fever cases in the town of Barili in Cebu is declining after peaking in mid-June, the town’s municipal health officer said Thursday.

A June 25 report on broadsheet Manila Bulletin’s website noted that three fatalities due to typhoid fever have been reported in the area.

Dr. Mary Joy Bajarias told TeleRadyo their first case of typhoid fever was reported in early 2022.

“Early this 2022, we had an isolated case of typhoid fever tapos (and then) we had 1 death yun na time,” she said...

NegOr reports 96% rise in typhoid fever cases

DUMAGUETE CITY – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) has reported a significant increase in the number of typhoid fever cases in Negros Oriental compared to last year, a health official reported on Thursday.

Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion bared to the Philippine News Agency that a report from the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the PHO showed a total of 279 cases with three deaths were reported from Jan. 1 to Aug. 20, this year.

She said the figure is 96 percent higher compared to the 142 cases and zero death during the same period last year...

Typhoid cases up 103%; 1 new death reported in Negros Oriental

DUMAGUETE CITY – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) on Friday reported that typhoid fever cases in Negros Oriental increased by more than 100 percent with one death based on their latest weekly monitoring report.

Dr. Liland Estacion, Assistant Provincial Health Officer, told the Philippine News Agency that based on a report from the Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (PESU), the province logged a total of 288 cases and four deaths from Jan. 1 to Aug. 27, this year.

The figure is 103 percent higher than the 142 cases with no death recorded during the same period last year.

Guihulngan City has the highest number of typhoid fever cases at 77; Bayawan City, 29; Dumaguete City, 26; Ayungon, 22; Sta. Catalina, 18; and Canlaon City, 16. The rest of the towns and cities had fewer than 15 cases except for San Jose and Pamplona which had zero cases...

45 Oriental Mindoro Mangyans fall ill due to typhoid fever

Forty-five indigenous Mangyans in Oriental Mindoro's Mansalay town had fallen ill due to typhoid fever, according to a Monday report on GMA News' Unang Balita.

The Mansalay Municipal Health Office said the victims experienced vomiting, diarrhea, and fever.

Typhoid fever cases in NegOr 121% higher than last year

DUMAGUETE CITY – Health authorities in Negros Oriental are trying to contain the rise in typhoid fever cases in the province which have more than doubled from last year’s figures, a health official said Wednesday.

Dr. Liland Estacion, provincial health officer, said the province logged a total of 347 typhoid cases with four deaths from Jan. 1 to Oct. 22 this year.

This is 121 percent higher than the 157 cases and zero deaths during the same period last year, she said.

The top five areas with the highest cases are Guihulngan City with 80; Bayawan City, 37; Dumaguete City, 36; Ayungon, 26; and Canlaon City, 21.

The rest of the towns and cities had 20 or fewer cases...
