Antique records 18 dengue cases with 1 death

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) is urging the public to remain vigilant against dengue as Antique already recorded 18 cases with one death during the first 16 days of January this year.

Dr. Leoncio Abiera, Jr. of the IPHO, in an interview on Wednesday, identified the lone fatality as a 38-year-old male from Barangay Mag-aba, Pandan who died on Jan. 8.

“From Jan. 1 to 16, the 17 live cases were reported from the towns of Culasi, Sibalom with four each; Tibiao, Tobias Fornier, Hamtic, San Jose de Buenavista with two each; and, San Remigio with one case,” he said....

Philippines: Dengue warning in General Santos City

The General Santos City government is warning the public about the rise in dengue fever. Since the beginning of the year, 503 cases, including six deaths have been recorded.

Acting head of the City Health Office, Dr. Rochelle Oco said the numbers are 69 percent higher than the 298 cases and one fatality reported in the same period in 2020.

?Our current cases are significantly higher than last year so while we continue to combat Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019), we should be also vigilant against the spread of dengue in our communities,? Dr Oco said.

The government is advising the public to observe of the 4S strategy and the ?4?oclock habit? down to the household level...

2 SoCot villages in state of calamity due to dengue

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Two barangays in Surallah town, South Cotabato province have been placed under state of calamity due to the increasing cases of the deadly dengue fever.

Leonardo Ballon, head of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), said Thursday Barangays Buenavista and Libertad issued the declaration as a “proactive measure” to contain and prevent the further spread of the disease.

He said no fatalities were so far recorded in the area but Buenavista already posted 17 confirmed cases while Libertad, situated in the town center, has 27 since Jan. 1.

Ballon said they are closely monitoring the situation in the two villages as they already recorded a “double case” or combined infection of dengue and the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19)...
