It looks like the sports world is still circulating this stuff around. How could a pro-athlete, someone in top physical condition, be in and out of the hospital with regular flu symptoms ?

PHILADELPHIA - Phillies slugger Ryan Howard went to the hospital early Saturday morning with flu-like symptoms and a temperature of 104 degrees, and he was not in the lineup for the game against Baltimore last night.

Howard had started 342 consecutive games, the longest active streak in major league baseball, and he unexpectedly extended the streak with a pinch-hit three-run homer in the 7th inning. The last time he took before a ballgame, he also hit a pinch hit homer against Cincinnati in 2007.

Greg Dobbs started at first base last night and Matt Stairs hit in the fourth spot.

Flu-like symptoms and a temperature of 104 degrees in late JUNE (in the northeastern US) is a pretty easy call.
