Lima .- The 33 percent of people infected with influenza AH1N1 are asymptomatic, ie, no symptoms of the disease, revealed the Ministry of Health (MINSA).
The director general of Epidemiology Minsa Jose Bolarte, said that as the universe of cases reported so far, 37 per cent of those infected show any symptoms related to the common cold such as nasal congestion, sore throat, headache and even body.
However, the person has no fever, and if it is not to reach critical levels characteristic of the influenza AH1N1, not low of 39 degrees centigrade, which requires immediate medical treatment given.
"These patients do not necessarily reach a health facility or require medical attention, because beyond the box flu in three or four days with conventional medicines, good nutrition and a lot of fluid intake," he said.
The official added that according to statistics, another 30 percent of people infected with this disease may present almost all the symptoms of influenza before AH1N1 and it requires a quick and timely health services, especially with the population within the so-called "risk groups" such as children under five years and older.
It is also ill people whose immune system presents low levels of defenses, such as tuberculosis and HIV.
Also, people who suffer from hypertension, diabetes, Down syndrome, bronchial asthma, pregnant women, among others.
Bolarte indicated that less than one percent of patients with influenza AH1N1 dies in Peru, and more patients discharged after responding positively to treatment so far exceeded more than 80 percent of all cases.
He recalled that when a person has AH1N1 influenza and recovered with medical treatment and not re-infect, because their body's defenses generated for this specific type of virus and prevent infection from recurring.
