12 measles cases reported in Lebanon County, bringing 2026 state total to 24
ANNE GARBER | Health reporter 8 hrs ago

Lebanon County, neighboring Lancaster County, is the latest county to experience a measles outbreak, as 12 people there have been diagnosed with the virus.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health issued a news release Wednesday reporting 11 of the cases. On Thursday, another person with the virus was identified, according to Department of Health Press Secretary Neil Ruhland.

The department conducted contact tracing following the hospitalizations of the first three individuals and identified the additional cases.

Of these infected individuals, 10 were unvaccinated. The Department of Health was unable to identify whether the other two had received the measles vaccine, Ruhland said.

There have now been 24 cases in the state this year. Eight of those cases occurred in Lancaster County in February. All of Lancaster County’s cases were among unvaccinated individuals.

Following the identification of Lebanon County cases, the Department of Health hosted a vaccine clinic Wednesday in Lebanon County, during which 26 people received immunizations. The state is also organizing additional vaccination clinics in Lebanon County, Ruhland said. Further information on the clinics was not immediately available...
