MARGAO/POINGUINNIM: The woman from Nuem-Khola, Canacona suffering from swine flu is still in quite a serious condition in a private hospital, informed medical sources on Tuesday.

?Even though the swab reports for H1N1 have come positive from a private testing site, we have still sent swab samples to Delhi to confirm this,? informed the medical superintendent of Hospicio, Dr Ruando De Sa.
On Monday, she was very serious and shifted on to a ventilator. The patient had not traveled outside the state just before she got the swine flu symptoms, informed sources.
As per the available report and case history from the Community Health Centre (CHC), Canacona, the woman got fever on August 7. The fever lasted for just two days. The fever recurred again on August 16, with symptoms like running nose and cough. The patient then consulted Dr Hegde at Margao on August 28.
It is further learnt that the patient then developed shortness of breath, following which she was referred to Dr Samuel at Chinchinim. Dr Samuel got her admitted to his hospital, took her throat swab sample and sent it for examination to the Chicalim hospital.
The CHC sources informed that at this stage her condition worsened and was then moved to Grace Cardiac Hospital, Margao, on August 25. Report that her swab samples tested positive for HINI virus came on August 30.
After that she was put on medication for swine flu. The woman had gone to her relative?s place at Margao on August 15. It is understood that her relative?s two children were suffering from fever and she had stayed there for four days. During this time, she never traveled outside Goa.
The CHC sources informed that eight of the woman?s relatives, who came in contact with her at her residence at Khola, have been given Tamiflu tablets by the Directorate of Health Services.
Meanwhile, according to the status report, one more positive case was reported from south Goa. This person had apparently traveled from Brazil to Mumbai via Dubai. Official sources say that he has received the treatment and has recovered. This brings the total of confirmed cases to 26.
As on today, suspected cases put on treatment at Asilo Hospital, Mapusa are 2, Hospicio Hospital, Margao? 2 and Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim? 3.
Meanwhile, at the passenger screening post at the arrival lounge of Dabolim Airport, 125 international passengers were screened bringing the total number of passengers screened at the airport till date to 18561
