Twinsburg -- In the midst of the outbreak of the Ebola virus, one local Peace Corps member is eager to return to the crisis zone and continue contributing to developing communities.

Living near the Ivory Coast border in southern Liberia during the outbreak, Ryan said she and her colleagues heard very little of the disease, which she said mostly struck Lofa County and Monrovia in the north and northwest of the country.

"Where we're standing at right now, we're kind of on hold until the end of September," Ryan said. "[The Peace Corps is] going to evaluate how the country is looking and if the country's looking okay by the end of September, we'll be able to go back. If not, they might close our service."
