A SOUTH Tyneside firm of funeral directors is taking action against the deadly swine flu virus.

Tynedale Funeral Services' staff have installed a number of protective measures to stop customers from catching the virus, which spread to North East England this week.

The parlours in Stanhope Road, South Shields, and Prince Consort Road in Hebburn, will now have a range of antibacterial handwashes, tissues, sinks and bins available for people to use.

Mark Cook, funeral director and embalmer, said: "We've always had tissues available, but we decided to get in the hand scrubs to try to prevent the spread of swine flu and any other disease and infections.
