Paraguay launches vaccination against influenza A H1N1
As of today, health services much of the country is immune to the risk population against influenza A H1N1. Public Health has provided 600 000 doses and get more in the coming days.

The Ministry of Health of Paraguay today launched the National Campaign of Vaccination against Influenza A H1N1, by which seeks to immunize at least 600,000 people are at risk of developing complications from the disease.
Yesterday, at the Hospital de Fernando de la Mora, there was a symbolic vaccination which officially launched the health crusade against pandemic influenza.
The campaign initially with 600 000 doses of immune (donated by the Pan American Health Organization), which protect against the H1N1 strain (monovalent).
For this weekend, Public Health expects to receive another 600,000 more, gained through the PAHO Revolving Fund. These vaccines are trivalent, ie not only provide protection against pandemic flu but also against two other strains of seasonal influenza (A and B).
Additionally, in the coming days will arrive 400 000 dose (monovalent), from England, which constitute a grant of European countries.
PAHO reported at least 23 countries in the region have reported several weeks ago have started vaccination against influenza H1N1, including neighboring Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Uruguay.
Dr. Carlos Torres, director of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), recommended that pregnant women, children 6 to 35 months, the elderly and chronically ill to be vaccinated with the trivalent (which will arrive next Saturday) to further protect against Two other strains of flu.
However, he clarified that if they want to immunize may do so without restrictions.

Dr Gonzalez, director of IPS Preventive Medicine, explained that the immunization will be for the general population and not just for policyholders of IPS.
