First case of Chikungunya in Paraguay confirmed

The landlocked South American country of Paraguay reported their first locally acquired chikungunya virus case in an Asuncion resident, according to health officials.

Chikungunya outbreak of 124 cases confirmed in a few days

The Health Ministry today updated the number of infected Chikungunya and announced that in the past two weeks has confirmed a total of 124 cases, most detected in populations of Greater Asunci?n.

Epidemiological alert for dengue and Chikungunya nationwide

The Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare declared an epidemiological alert for dengue and Chikungunya throughout the national territory, in order to curb the spread of the virus.

Through Resolution No. 107, the Health Minister Antonio Barrios, ordered state epidemiological alert for dengue and chikungunya for disposal and the adoption of appropriate measures to prevent and control disease throughout the country.

In a statement, the institution said that this will involve and mobilize the necessary structures at all levels of management to mitigate the impact of dengue and Chikungunya on populations and reduce the risk of spread across the country.

74 new cases of chikungunya
