September 5, 2008

Four new or revised annexes to the Canadian Pandemic Influenza Plan for the Health Sector (CPIP) were published today.] These annexes provide the health sector with important new guidance and information to help support them in planning for and responding to an influenza pandemic.

The CPIP provides a national framework for pandemic preparedness for the health sector. These annexes are the result of ongoing collaborative efforts by public health and emergency preparedness and response experts from the Government of Canada, provincial and territorial governments, and other expert stakeholders.

The new or revised annexes include:

* Pandemic Influenza Laboratory Guidelines (Annex C-revised);
* Preparing for the Pandemic Vaccine Response (Annex D-revised);
* Clinical Care Guidelines and Tools (Annex G-revised); and
* The Role of Emergency Social Services (ESS) in Planning for Pandemic Influenza in Canada (Annex O-new)]
