36 yr, female, treatment at hospital Gelsenkirchen and university clinic Essen, death 25. September 2009
Risk factors and chronic medical conditions:
smoking, obesity (180 kg), diabetes.
Timeline:
Symptoms: ILI (influenza like illness) at the beginning of September 2009
Time of diagnosis: data not available
Hospitalisation: mid September 2009 (hospital Gelsenkirchen)
Death: 25 September 2009 (University clinic Essen)
Complications:
pneumonia, respiratory failure (artificial ventilation), sepsis including septic shock and septic multi organ failure, bacterial superinfection (resistant germs), septic intestinal disease, DIC.
Antiviral treatment:
Oseltamivir (Tamiflu?) had been given at a late stage of the infection.
