I don't see how they can ever coordinate to keep the grid up.
Does anyone know if any of the big transpo companies are stockpiling?
Is our govt stockpiling gas, oil...?
Why are we being told stock up for 2 weeks when transpo is being told:
Here is what is recommended:
Susceptibility to the pandemic influenza virus will be universal.
? Once sustained person-to-person transmission begins, the disease will spread rapidly around the globe.
? The clinical disease attack rate will likely be 30 percent or higher.
? Absenteeism may reach 40 percent during the peak weeks
? Epidemics will last 6-8 weeks in affected communities.
? Multiple waves will likely occur with each lasting 2-3 months.

Here are just a few of the considerations:
Airplanes
Reduce the number of passengers per flight to enhance
social distancing and minimize person-to-person close contact.
Facilitate social distancing in terminals (e.g., blocking off or removing
every other seat in waiting areas).
How will pandemic influenza affect specialty aviation carriers (e.g., air ambulance,
firefighting, fixed/rotary wing safety inspectors, and offshore oilrig support)?
What backup options exist in cases where essential equipment such as heating,
cooling and ventilation systems (HVAC) break down?
Can procedures be adapted to pandemic flu scenarios lasting 6 months or longer?
How much of which materials/supplies (e.g., aviation fuel,
support vehicle gasoline,lubricants, repair parts) are required
to sustain essential operations for up to 3 months?
What essential materials/supplies can you afford to stockpile?
What costs must you incur to ensure supply or delivery of essential materials?
How do you fund these additional costs?
What would social distancing affect security and customs lines?
How might enhanced aircraft cleaning measures affect turnaround times?
Can workers safely use N-95 respiratory masks for extended periods in a
pressurized aircraft cabin or performing physical labor?
How would passengers react to health screening, temporary quarantine,
or requirements for additional contact information?
How will you fund, procure and stockpile ppe for workers and others?
What about medical oversight and support, antiviral medications and/or vaccines?
What Transportation sub-sectors (e.g., pipeline, short and long-haul trucking,
mass transit and maritime) does your organization rely on most?
Have you integrated your organization?s pandemic influenza plans, actions and trigger points
with relevant State, tribal and community pandemic plans?
Mass Transit
Demand for bus and rail may decrease while
demand for taxicabs and paratransit type vehicles might increase.
Can bus routes be modified quickly based on changing demand?
Can priority status and handling be designated for passengers traveling to medical centers?
Will there be sufficient cleaning solutions to disinfect the interior of buses
and railroad passenger cars between shifts?
Will frequent cleaning affect the durability of the interiors of these vehicles/cars?
What can the business afford to stockpile and what must it stockpile?
Has stockpiling emergency supplies been considered for retained workers?
Have locations to screen workers before they begin their shift been considered?
What impacts could result from quarantine of specific communities
and local travel restrictions?

How will changes in demand (e.g., potential for decreased demand from ice cream distributors for refrigerated capacity and increased demand for mortuary support) affect essential equipment demand and operations?
