Palestine confirms 208 new coronavirus cases, one death



RAMALLAH, Sunday, July 5, 2020 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Health announced today that 208 people were tested positive for coronavirus in the West Bank, and that a woman died from the disease.

Minister of Health, Mai al-Kaileh, said an old woman in her seventies died from the virus in al-Fawwar refugee camp, near Hebron, which brings today's toll to three and the overall death toll to 19.

A statement by the Ministry of Health said 185 of the new cases were in Hebron governorate, 11 in Bethlehem, 10 in Nablus, and two in Tulkarm.

The ministry pointed out that the latest figures bring up the total cases confirmed since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Palestine to 4458, including 3783 active cases.

A total of 19 recoveries were also registered today, including 18 in Nablus and one in Jenin.

Palestine is seeing a serious pandemic of the virus that needs different preparations, the state's Health Minister Mai al-Kaila said amid a meeting in the West Bank city of Nablus.

The official further revealed that a total of 17 are in critical conditions and receiving intensive medical care.

The medical treatment centers in the West Bank are on alert, al-Kaila said, noting more medical supplies and ventilators are needed.

Based on the ministerial statement, 6,625 patients are receiving medical care, while 1,482 have recovered and 47 died since the outbreak in the Palestinian territories in March
