04/18 - Khadeja (44F) - from Sihala - discharged from PIMS
04/19 - Fazilat Bibi (24) - from Sihala - PIMS
04/19 - Mohammad Zahid (4) - from Sihala - PIMS
04/19 - Adnan (13) - from Sihala - PIMS
04/19 - Sheher Bano (child) - from Sihala - PIMS
04/21 - Mohammad Haris (13) - PIMS - from Sihala - cough & flu
04/21? - Muhammad Naveed (21) - Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) - ICU - high fever (102F), cough and flu. Doctors placed him in an isolation ward suspecting he had bird flu. Naveed’s blood, sputum and phlegm samples have been sent to National Institute of Health laboratories for tests. Worked as a poultry handler near Committee Chowk.
04/19 - 12 members of a family fell unconscious immediately after consuming a chicken dish in Pasrur. The patients regained consciousness after emergency treatment. Twelve people, seven of them women, were hospitalised after they fell unconscious at their home at Khanour-Sabzpeer village. The condition of seven people was stated to be critical at the District Headquarters Hospital till last reports came in.
Anwar Mehmood, the Health Ministry secretary - at least 40 suspected human bird flu cases so far and that 15 of them had been reported from Tarlai on Friday.
So far 40 human samples comprising throat, nasopharyngeal swabs and samples were collected from Sihala and Tarlai areas by the Virology Laboratory of the National Institute of Health (NIH) after the news about bird flu broke out. Out of 25, 11 samples were collected from Sihala, 14 from Tarlai of which 23 proved to be negative while two were still being investigated, Mr Mehmood said.
Fifteen new samples were received by NIH on Friday again from Tarlai which is being processed, he explained.
