Man tests ?negative? for bird flu
PESHAWAR: The National Institute of Health, Department of Virology, Islamabad had reported the result of the blood samples of Umer Saeed, a suspected bird flu patient, as negative, the provincial government press release said on Friday. Umer was admitted to the Khyber Teaching Hospital on April 26, and later was shifted to the isolation room on suspicion of having the bird flu virus. The doctors collected swabs from the patients suspected of being infected with the bird flu virus and two blood tests were sent to the NIH with the assistance of the World Health Organisation. On May 4, the WHO confirmed the tests as negative and informed the provincial government.
