Another patient of swine flu admitted to Nishtar Medical Institute (NMI) died on Wednesday in Multan, reported Local TV. According to details, NMI sources told that 55-year- old Aneeqa was admitted to the hospital with suspicion of swine flu. The sample of her blood had been sent to the laboratory in Islamabad and the hospital was waiting for the result of her blood test but she died meanwhile. This is the second death in Nishtar Hospital within two days. Another woman was killed by the fatal decease on Wednesday. Three more patients are still admitted to the hospital. Also read: Two injured as blaze guts passenger van in Multan Fire broke out in a van due to short circuit, injuring driver and passenger here on Monday in Multan, Local TV reported. As per details, the van caught fire near Der Ada Chowk after which the passengers were rescued on emergency basis however, the fire also engulfed two more vans while injuring one traveler and driver. The injured were at once shifted to Nishtar Hospital for medicinal assistance. Rescue 1122, on reaching the affected area, doused the fire and stated that the fire erupted due to short circuit.

Swine flu, death toll climbs to 12 in Punjab

LAHORE - The death toll from swine flu has climbed to 12 across Punjab including Rawalpindi, which is reported to be worst hit with four casualties.

According to Punjab Director-General (Health) Dr Amjid Shahzad the swine flu has so far claimed 12 lives across Punjab province including four deaths each in Rawalpindi and Multan, two in Lahore and two each in Muzaffargarh and Chakwal.

Meanwhile Sultan, 35, from Dera Ismail Khan died of seasonal influenza in Nishtar Hospital Multan on Saturday.

[h=1]Eight die of seasonal influenza, over 100 cases emerge[/h] PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has yet to make arrangements for keeping people infected with seasonal influenza (H1N1) at isolation wards, while eight people have succumbed to this disease.
Health experts believe that even though the recent rainfall will cause a decrease in the number of cases, numbers this year have been alarming.
According to details gathered from hospitals, 105 cases of seasonal influenza were reported from across K-P with the majority of patients, 77, from Swabi district.
The count from other districts was 28 with eight cases reported at the Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH).
?Even though it is a mild disease, the viral infection has taken a serious turn,? Dr Arshad Javed, who works at the Chest and Pulmonology Ward at Lady Reading Hospital, told The Express Tribune. He said 28 patients from different parts of the province were currently being treated at the facility and their test samples had been sent to the National Institute of Health, Islamabad. He added reports from the city will reach soon.

RAWALPINDI: Another patient succumbed to the swine flu, after which the death toll across the province increased to 13.

According to sources, the total number of confirmed cases of swine flu in Punjab have reached 39. Those who have been victims of swine flu hail from Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Chakwal and other cities as well. Pakistan?s prominent doctor Dr Shaharyar said the outbreak of swine flu can be contained by using precautionary measures.

[h=1]H1N1 death toll in Punjab rises to 15[/h] LAHORE: The death toll by H1N1 seasonal influenza in Punjab rose to 15 in the first three weeks of 2016 as another patient succumbed to the virus in Lahore on Monday.
Health Director General Dr Amjad Shahzad said Hameeda Bibi, 52, of Sahiwal had contracted virus from her native district and she died at the Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore.
He said the patient was shifted to the hospital where the clinical and diagnostic investigations confirmed that she had contracted the virus.
Dr Amjad said the disease had taken lives of 15 people in Punjab during the last three weeks and 41 others had tested positive for the virus.

Seasonal influenza : Flu claims two more lives

Two patients suffering from seasonal influenza died in two Rawalpindi hospitals during the last 24 hours.

Zahid, a suspected seasonal flu patient, died in the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) late on Sunday night.

Saleem Khan, another patient of H1NI influenza died in the Benazir Bhutto General Hospital.

Similarly, Razia, 30, who died in the HFH earlier, was later confirmed to be suffering from seasonal influenza.

This has taken the total number of deaths caused by flue since January 1 in the country to 22.

Allied Hospital Emergencies Director Dr Zulfiqar Ahmed had said that 35-year-old Ahsan Masih, a resident of Chak-261-RB, Oddhwali, Dijkot, had suffered from hepatitis-C, diabetics and pneumonia. He had been referred to Allied Hospital from Mian Trust Hospital on Sunday night.

Twenty five persons have died in Punjab, six in Islamabad and two in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to an update issued by Dr Salman, an official of National Institute of Health (NIH) here on Thursday.
For the period from January 1 to February 11, 2016, total suspected cases of the influenza were recorded at 1191.
Total confirmed cases of the influenza across the country have risen to 256 till now. As many as 75 confirmed cases of the influenza were reported in Islamabad, 149 in Punjab, 22 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three in Sindh, four in Gilgit-Baltistan and three in FATA.

Another man dies of swine flu in city

KARACHI: Health authorities on Saturday confirmed the death of an elderly man from swine flu at a private hospital.

The 65-year-old man was the third victim who died of swine flu in the city since Jan 1.

Officials said he was admitted to the hospital early this month and he died three days ago though the death was confirmed only on Saturday.
