Diarrhoea toll rises to 12 in Buner

DAGGAR: Ten more children died of diarrhoea and another 100 were hospitalised in Buner district Monday, taking the toll from the outbreak to 12.
Hospital sources said 10 minor victims were from Bai Killay, Kaoga Killay, Amnawar Killay, Jowar Killay and Bar Killay. Another 100, who were hospitalized, were also from the same villages.
Medical Superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital Dr Sher Muhammad and Executive District Officer (health) Dr Maqsood advised the people to use boiled water and fresh vegetables and fruit.
The sources said the rise in number of the diarrhoea affectees in the area was mainly due to the curfew duration as most of the people were not unable to go out to bring fresh vegetables and fruit, nor could they take their patients to the hospitals in time.
Meanwhile, seven persons were bitten by a rabid dog in Pir Baba area. The affected persons were shifted to the hospital but there were no vaccines for their treatment. A security man, whose identity could not be ascertained, mistakenly shot and injured himself in Chagharzai area. He was airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Peshawar.
