Pakistan reports 2291 cases of coronavirus

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 2,291 on Thursday after new infections were confirmed in the country.

Authorities on Thursday has reported 31 deaths from novel coronavirus.

According to details, 845 patients have been tested positive for the epidemic in Punjab, 743 in Sindh, 276 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 187 in Gilgit-Baltistan,169 in Balochistan, 62 in Islamabad and nine in Azad Kashmir...

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s coronavirus tally on Saturday jumped to 2818 cases as 231 more COVID-19 patients were reported from across the country during the last 24-hours, the national dashboard maintained by the federal ministry of health showed.

According to the statistics on the dashboard, the death toll in the country from the virus has jumped to 41, with four deaths reported during the past 24 hours.

However, a positive development is witnessed in fight against coronavirus as 131 people have so far recovered from the deadly infection with at least 21 recoveries reported from the Sindh province in past 24-hours alone.

Pakistan has quarantined 20,000 worshippers and is still searching for tens of thousands more who attended an Islamic gathering in Lahore last month despite the worsening coronavirus pandemic, officials said on Sunday.

Authorities said they want to test or quarantine those who congregated at the event held by the Tablighi Jamaat –– an Islamic missionary movement –– between March 10-12 over fears they are now spreading Covid-19 across Pakistan and overseas.

More than 100,000 people went to the meeting, organisers said, undeterred by government requests for it to be cancelled as the virus hit the country.

The statistics revealed that 577 new cases were reported during the last 24 hours, which is the highest figure recorded in a day since the country recorded its first two cases on Feb. 26.

The majority of the fresh cases were recorded in the country's eastern Punjab province which continued to be the most affected region with 1,918 positive cases, followed by the southern Sindh province which recorded 932 cases so far.

The number of cases rose to 500 in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 211 in north Gilgit-Baltistan region, 202 in southwest Balochistan province, and 83 in the capital Islamabad.

At least 17 people have lost their lives each in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 15 in Punjab. Overall, 429 people across the country recovered and were discharged from the hospitals which are about 11 percent of the total positive cases...

• The most affected province due to COVID-19 virus is Punjab 1,918, followed by Sindh 932.

• A 30 bedded isolation hospital with 5 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and ventilators for COVID19 patients have been established at Abdullah Hospital Skardu by Health Department Gilgit Baltistan.

• Six quarantine centers and two isolation wards have been established in district Kohistan,
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a total bed capacity of 69.

• The capital administration extended the lockdown of the city for another eight days as the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 82 on Monday • Chairman National Disaster Management Authority said on Monday that keeping in view the need of the country during the coronavirus pandemic, 2,000 additional ventilators would be sought from China....

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country have reached to 5038.

These include 2425 in Punjab, 1318 in Sindh, 697 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 228 in Balochistan, 119 in Islamabad, 216 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 35 in Azad Kashmir.

According to details, 3,217 patients have been tested positive for the epidemic in Punjab, 1,668 in Sindh, 912 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 280 in Balochistan, 234 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 140 in Islamabad and 46 in Azad Kashmir.

According to details, 3,276 patients have been tested positive for the epidemic in Punjab, 2008 in Sindh, 993 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 303 in Balochistan, 237 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 145 in Islamabad and 46 in Azad Kashmir.

So far, 1,645 patients have recovered in the country.
