Islamabad: The quantity of confirmed coronavirus scenarios in Pakistan sharply rose to 212 on Tuesday, amidst conflicting statements by authorities on the nation’s very first casualty owing to the viral infection.

The Sindh province is the worst-hit with 172 cases, adopted by 15 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 10 in Balochistan, 8 in Punjab, 5 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 2 in Islamabad, officers claimed.

Pakistan on Sunday shut down markets and public places in several major cities of the country amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The number of coronavirus cases in the country also jumped to 629.

According to the provincial governments of Northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab, and Balochistan, the public have been advised to remain at home and avoid social gatherings.
"In view of experts’ advice regarding social distancing being a primary preventive method and avoiding public contact, all markets, shopping malls, and restaurants shall remain closed with effect from Sunday morning till Tuesday morning," the KP government said in a statement.

The provincial government also declared an emergency and suspended all inter-district passenger public transport for seven days starting on Monday, the statement added.

On Saturday, Punjab's Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also announced a lockdown in the province from Saturday night till Tuesday morning.

With over 150 new coronavirus cases confirmed in the last 24 hours, the number of COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 803, officials said on Monday.

The death toll in the country also jumped to six after a doctor lost his life in the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region.

According to Federal Health Ministry, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in southern Sindh province rose to 352, Punjab province to 225, in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to 31, western Balochistan province 108, Gilgit-Baltistan 71, the capital's Islamabad 15 while one case confirmed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Most of the new patients had recently returned from neighboring Iran.

So far, six patients have successfully recovered and discharged from the hospital, the ministry said.

Pakistan's coronavirus cases rose to over 900 on Tuesday as the government suspended all passenger train operations through the country till March 31 and deployed army to assist the civil administration to enforce a nationwide lockdown to contain the virus outbreak.

Punjab province on Tuesday reported its first coronavirus death, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to seven.

The deceased was identified as a 57-year-old patient who was under treatment at Mayo Hospital in Lahore, Dawn reported, quoting provincial health department official Qaiser Asif.

Punjab has reported 16 new cases, taking the provincial tally to 265, Asif added.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan jumped to 1,106 Thursday morning after new cases were reported in Balochistan, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Sindh reported eight new cases in the country, seven in Karachi and one in Hyderabad, taking the provincial tally to 421.

Earlier, the national dashboard had reported five new cases in Islamabad.

Meanwhile, Balochistan also reported 12 new cases in the province, taking the provincial tally to 131. Gilgit Baltistan also reported three new cases in the region late Wednesday night, taking its toll to 84.

The country also reported its eighth death from the virus on Wednesday...

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan

Pakistan on Saturday reported another death from the novel coronavirus, bringing the tally to 11 in the country, an official said.

According to local authorities in the northeastern province of Punjab, a 22-year old patient died in Faisalabad city.

"With heavy heart, I am confirming that we have lost a 22 years old patient in Faisalabad. The total loss of lives is at 5 now. Currently, we have 490 confirmed cases across Punjab," Usman Buzdar, chief minister of Punjab tweeted.

There are 1,408 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.

According to official numbers, 490 cases have been confirmed in the most populous province of Punjab, 457 in Sindh province, 180 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 107 in the Gilgit Baltistan region, 133 in Balochistan, 39 in Islamabad and two in Pakistani-administered Kashmir.

A total of 25 patients successfully recovered and were discharged from hospitals across the country while seven patients are in critical condition...

The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan reached 1,526 on Sunday, amid officials stepping up efforts to contain the fast spreading deadly viral infection.

According to the Ministry of Health, Punjab -- the emerging hotspot of COVID-19 in Pakistan -- recorded 558 cases, followed by 481 in Sindh, 188 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 138 in Balochistan, 116 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 43 in Islamabad and 2 in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Pakistan diagnosed 148 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the national tally to 1,865, authorities said Tuesday.

The bulk of the new cases was reported from the most populous northeastern Punjab, and southern Sindh provinces, putting the latest figures at 651, and 627 respectively, according to the official command and control cell set up to monitor the virus situation.

Meanwhile, at least seven more patients passed away after contracting the virus, also known as COVID-19, in different parts of the country, taking the death toll to 25...

The number of novel coronavirus cases in Pakistan has risen to 2,007 with more than 150 confirmed in the last 24 hours, officials said Wednesday.

The country’s death toll jumped to 26, while 12 patients are in critical condition.

According to the Federal Health Ministry, the number of confirmed cases rose to 676 in Sindh province, 708 in Punjab province, 253 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 158 in Balochistan province, 148 in the Gilgit-Baltistan autonomous region and 58 in the capital Islamabad, while six cases were confirmed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

More than 80% of the confirmed cases had recently returned from neighboring Iran and Saudi Arabia...
