Mysterious disease claims lives of four children in Swabi within a week

A mysterious illness has claimed the lives of four children within a single week in Gandaf village of Swabi district, triggering fear and concern among local residents.

According to reports on Monday, the deceased children include three-month-old Muhammad Owais, two-year-old Abu Zar Umar, nine-month-old Umar Khan and five-year-old Abu Huraira. All the deaths occurred over the past week, alarming families in the area.

Local residents believe the deaths may have been caused by a measles outbreak. They reported that the affected children developed high fever, rashes on the body and severe weakness, after which their condition rapidly deteriorated.

At least 71 deaths linked to Measles have been reported across Pakistan this year, with more than 16,000 suspected cases raising alarm among health authorities.

According to the Ministry of National Health Services Pakistan, nearly 4,000 cases have been laboratory confirmed so far, indicating a growing public health concern.

Sindh has been the worst-affected region, recording 40 deaths. The province has reported over 4,000 suspected cases, with more than 1,100 confirmed through lab testing.​..
