SLAMABAD/PESHAWAR:

The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health (NIH) has confirmed three new polio cases, raising the country's tally for 2025 to 17.

According to the laboratory, the new cases were detected in Takhtikhel (Lakki Marwat district) and Mir Ali (North Waziristan district) of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), as well as Chajro in Umerkot district of Sindh.

The affected children include a 15 month old girl from Lakki Marwat, a six month old girl from North Waziristan, and a five year old boy from Umerkot.

So far this year, 10 cases have been reported in K P, five in Sindh, and one each in Punjab and Gilgit Baltistan.​..

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health (NIH) has confirmed a new case of polio from District Lakki Marwat in South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The case involves a five-month-old child from Union Council Sulemankhel.

This is the 12th polio case reported from the KP this year, bringing the total number of polio cases in Pakistan in 2025 to nineteen.

The continued detection of polio cases highlights the ongoing threat to children, especially in areas with low vaccine acceptance.​..

​A new polio case has been confirmed in both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh, raising Pakistan’s total number of polio cases for the year to 21, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Pakistan, alongside Afghanistan, remains one of the last countries where polio is still endemic, despite ongoing global efforts to eradicate the virus. The NIH’s Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication confirmed the new cases: a six-year-old girl from Union Council Pattan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohistan district and a 21-month-old girl from UC Matli-2 in Sindh’s Badin.

The latest cases bring the total for 2025 to 21, with 13 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six from Sindh, and one each from Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.​..

The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health (NIH) has confirmed two new cases of wild poliovirus, bringing the total number of cases reported in Pakistan this year to 23.

According to official sources, the new cases were detected in southern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) — one each from District Tank and District North Waziristan.

The affected children include a 16-month-old girl from Union Council Mullazai in Tank, and a two-year-old girl from Union Council Miran Shah-3 in North Waziristan.

With these latest detections, the province of K-P accounts for 15 of the 23 total cases reported in 2025. Sindh has reported six cases, while Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan have recorded one case each.​..

ISLAMABAD: Two fresh polio cases have been confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, bringing Pakistan’s total count this year to 26, the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health (NIH) said on Monday.

The laboratory said the latest cases involve a 19-month-old girl from Union Council Mir Ali in District North Waziristan and an 11-month-old girl from Union Council Suleman Khel in District Lakki Marwat.

With these detections, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa accounts for 18 of the total reported cases this year, followed by Sindh with six, and one each in Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan, the regional laboratory added.​..

According to the NIH, the latest cases were detected in Badin and Thatta, with both patients being young girls.

A new case of wild poliovirus (WPV1) has emerged in Torghar district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, making it the second case from the district this year. The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad, has confirmed detection of the new poliovirus case on Tuesday.

“The poliovirus was detected in a 12-month-old boy from Union Council Ghari, Torghar. With this detection, the total number of polio cases in Pakistan in 2025 has reached 30 – including 19 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, nine from Sindh, and one each from Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan,” the polio eradication department said​...

​Another Polio Case Reported In Pakistan Bringing 2025 Total To 31

ISLAMABAD – The number of polio cases in Pakistan for 2025 has risen to 31 following the confirmation of a positive sample from North Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Polio Eradication Programme, the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad confirmed the presence of wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) in the district.

“This marks the fifth case reported from North Waziristan this year, bringing the total for 2025 to 31,” the programme said.

A laboratory official explained that although the sample was collected last year, it has been included in the 2025 count. He added that confirming a polio case can take up to three weeks, and several other samples are still under analysis, which could further increase the total number of cases.​..
