Three children infected by measles died in a village of Sindh district of Kashmore.

According to reports, three children died by measles in Irshad Ahmed Khosa village of the district.

The children reported died by the disease included four-year-old Kulsoom, Asad Chachar 3 yrs, and Ahmad Hassan of two years.

The families complained that the health department teams didn’t vaccinate the children.

Earlier several children were reported died by measles in Jacobabad adjacent to Kashmore.

Sindh health department is seen to be lacking in action over the increasing number of infections and deaths in the area.​..

KARACHI: The city has been seeing a surge in measles’ cases in recent weeks, indicating failure of the government-run immunisation programme and persistent neglect of parents towards their children’s fundamental health needs, it emerged on Friday.

• Experts advise parents to get their children vaccinated

KARACHI: While there has been a slight decrease in measles’ cases with the weather conditions getting warmer in a couple of days, the highly contagious infection remains a serious public health concern in Karachi as complicated cases continue to be reported at the city’s tertiary care hospitals, it emerged on Saturday.

According to experts, the majority of children being brought to hospitals are unvaccinated and malnourished.

“This month, 80 children have been admitted to the hospital with measles’ complications. Two of them have died. Only today, a three-year-old child has been brought to us from Thatta with post-measles pneumonia,” shared Dr Samreen Zaidi who heads the paediatric section of the Sindh Infectious Disease Hospital and Research Centre (SIDHRC) at Nipa Chowrangi.

The child reported with severe respiratory distress and had to be intubated, she added.

The SIDHRC discharged on Saturday three measles’ patients while as many children are still under treatment. All children are on ventilators. One of them is a one-year-old baby battling for her life for the last 10 days.​..

Swabi residents seek measures to control measles ‘outbreak’

SWABI: Many children have been affected by measles in the district and locals have demanded of health department to take prompt measures to control ‘outbreak’ of the disease.

Nizar Khan, a resident of Lalbeg village, told Dawn that his two daughters were suffering from measles and many children in his neighbourhood were also affected by the disease. He said two daughters of his brother Fazl Mohammad were also suffering from measles. He added that the number of measles-affected children continued to increase in the area.

Kamran Khan, a labourer from Ooch Khawar area, said that his two sisters were suffering from measles and the disease was rapidly spreading to other children in their area.

A doctor in district health office, when contacted, said that they had recorded 222 cases of the ailment so far. He said that they only record those children, who visited Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital Shahmansoor, but it was learnt that a number of parents were treating their children at home.​..

DADU: Two more children died of measles in district Dadu on Monday, taking the death toll to 25 during the past four months, ARY News reported on Monday.

Civil Surgeon Dr Amjad Mastoi while confirming the deaths said that an anti-measles vaccination drive is underway across the district Dadu. He said that during the last four months, 397 children infected with measles were admitted to hospitals.

Dr Amjad Mastoi said that a large number of children have been diagnosed with measles in Tehsils Juhi, Khairour Nathan Shan, and Maher.

He said camps have been established in the affected areas while the vaccination drive is underway and children are being immunised across the district​...

Five children has died of measles epidemic in Qambar district of Sindh while 20 others suffering from the disease were hospitalized, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to hospital sources, measles epidemic started spreading in Ghogharu area of Qambar due to which three children died within a week and 15 other children are suffering from measles.

The deceased included 3-year-old girl Latifan, 4-year-old Dua Batul and 3-year-old child Rehan.

Sources said 10 days ago in Sajawal Junejo, the number of children who died of measles has increased to two while five children have been infected by measles.

Families of the infected children said that the sick children were diagnosed with measles by a local doctor.​..

Measles outbreak worsens in Punjab

LAHORE:The measles outbreak in the Punjab province continued to escalate, with alarming increases in both suspected and confirmed cases.

Tragically, three children have succumbed to the disease in Multan during the past 24 hours, as reported by the Health Department on Friday. These recent fatalities bring the total number of measles-related deaths among children in Punjab to 30.

On Thursday alone, health authorities identified 321 suspected cases of measles across Punjab. Breakdown of the new cases includes 47 from Lahore, 6 from Gujranwala, 4 from Vehari, 26 from Jhang, 11 from Rahim Yar Khan, and 14 from Multan.

The number of confirmed measles cases in the province has now surged to 3,674. In response to the outbreak, health officials are urging parents to ensure their children receive measles vaccination and to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms appear.​..

Three more children died of measles in Kamiana Thatta area of Pattoki as the outbreak of measles among children has become uncontrollable on Saturday.

The number of children who have died due to measles in last twenty days has increased to 10 while more than two dozen children are under treatment in the hospitals.

The people of the area are protesting against the current plight of children deprived of basic facilities. On the other hand epidemic situation of measles continues in the Bahawalpur city and its surroundings as 23 more children infected with measles during the last 24 hours. Kasur: In Punjab’s Kasur district, a measles outbreak appears to be emerging with 384 suspected cases involving children admitted to hospitals.

According to Dr. Talha Javed, CEO Health Kasur, blood samples from 375 out of the 384 suspected children have been sent to the National Lab in Islamabad. Among these, 66 samples tested positive for measles while the results for 44 children are still pending.​..

PATTOKI:

The measles outbreak in Thatta Kamiana, a suburb of Sarai Mughal in Tehsil Pattoki, has claimed the lives of 11 children, sparking outrage and resulting in the suspension of local health officials.

Residents of Thatta Kamiana have staged protest demonstrations after several families lost multiple children to the disease.

Tariq, a local resident, lost his two children, 5-year-old Ahmed and 3-year-old Ayesha. Imam also lost two children, 15-year-old Shehzadi Bibi and 1-year-old Zubaida Bibi. Similarly, Nazir Ahmed's family is grieving the deaths of 2-year-old Shazia Bibi and 5-month-old Muhammad Irfan.

In response to the growing number of deaths, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif took immediate notice and directed the provision of necessary medical facilities for the affected children in Thatta Kamiana.​..

SHIKARPUR: Four more children including an infant died of measles in Shikarpur, taking the death toll to 12 during the past two months in the district, ARY News reported on Saturday.

The deceased children included nine-month-old Uzma Khoso, three-year-old Nasser, Waqar, and Shahida. It seemed that deceased measles turned out to be a fatal epidemic due to the non-vaccination of children as 12 children lost their lives in Shikarpur alone in the last two months.

Over 180 children have been brought to the civil hospital in Shikarpur with similar symptoms since January 2024.

Earlier on May 6, two children died of measles in district Dadu , taking the death toll to 25 during the past four months​...

KARACHI: Six children of a family died of the measles outbreak in the suburbs of Matiari district, Sindh province, Pakistan, local media reported on Saturday.

According to details, more than four other children in the village are still affected by the infectious disease. All the deceased children and those currently battling measles belong to the same family.

Earlier reports from nearby Shikarpur district indicated that four children, including an infant, succumbed to measles in recent months, bringing the total death toll to 12 within the district. Among the deceased were nine-month-old Uzma Khoso, three-year-old Nasser, Waqar, and Shahida.

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Aug, 2024) According to the report issued from the Chief Executive Officer of Bahawalpur, the deaths of three children from a single household in the neighboring union council of Rajroho, Ahmadpur East were not due to any mysterious illness.

Medical reports indicated that the three children of Mahboob Ahmed, a resident of Rajroho, were afflicted with measles. Their parents opted for home treatment, but two of the children passed away on August 3 and August 5, respectively.

On August 9, the parents admitted the third child to Bahawal Victoria Hospital in critical condition.

This child, who remained ill with measles, passed away on August 17...

KARACHI: Measles — a highly contagious but vaccine-preventable viral infection — is rearing its ugly head again after affecting thousands of children and killing at least 150 children this year in the province, it has emerged.

However, the health department data confirmed the deaths of 132 children this year with more than 13,000 suspected and 6,670 confirmed cases. Surprisingly, it shows only three deaths in Karachi.

The year saw 149 outbreaks across the province with 18 outbreaks reported in Karachi alone.​..
