RAWALPINDI:

The dengue outbreak in Rawalpindi is intensifying, with a significant surge in cases reported in the Potohar Town area, particularly in Chak Jalal Din.

A mobile health unit has been dispatched to the area, where 226 patients have tested positive for dengue fever. Over the past 24 hours, the district has recorded 44 new dengue cases.

Despite ongoing efforts through the anti-dengue campaign, the spread of dengue mosquitoes appears to be getting out of control. The number of confirmed dengue patients being treated in city hospitals has risen to 96, while the total number of cases reported in the district has reached 543.

In the past 20 hours, Potohar Town alone accounted for 25 new cases. Additionally, five cases were reported from municipal corporation areas, five from Rawalpindi Cantonment, three from Chaklala, and two from the rural areas of Potohar.

This season, two cases of Congo fever and 651 cases of malaria have been reported, though no cases of monkeypox have been detected.​..

LAHORE: The Punjab Health Department Wednesday confirmed that 82 new cases of dengue were recorded across the province during the last 24 hours.

Among the cases, 69 are reported from Rawalpindi, 4 from Lahore and two from Chakwal, one each from Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha and Sahiwal.

During the past week, 459 dengue cases were identified bringing the total number of cases in Punjab in 2024 to 1,245​...

Among the various seasonal epidemics plaguing public health in the country, dengue appears to top the list, with thousands of people infected with the vector-borne illness each year, due largely to the negligence of the preventative authorities.

Despite the Sindh government allocating nearly Rs288 million for the dengue program during 2021 to 2024, the spread of the deadly virus could not be controlled due to a lack of communication between the health agencies. In light of the sluggish preventative efforts undertaken by the dengue control authorities this season, health experts have expressed their admonitions that in case no effective campaign is launched to eradicate dengue during the upcoming days, the virus may emerge as a major healthcare emergency towards the end of the year.​..

...According to the data released by the Director General Health Services for Vector Bone Disease Sindh, nearly 1,579 people have been affected by the dengue virus in September 2024 across Sindh, with the majority of cases arising out of Karachi East, where one death was also reported. Although surveys carried out in different districts of Karachi during previous years, revealed as many as 55 dengue hotspots, no dengue survey was conducted in 2024 to identify possible breeding grounds of the larva...

RAWALPINDI:

The dengue outbreak in Rawalpindi shows no signs of abating, with 107 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total number of patients currently receiving treatment at allied hospitals to 311.

Potohar Town remains the primary hotspot, marked by persistent mosquito activity.

In total, the district has reported 1,847 dengue cases this season. Of the new cases, Potohar Town accounted for 58, followed by 16 in the Municipal Corporation limits, 19 in Rawalpindi Cantonment, six in Chaklala, five in Potohar Rural, and two in Gujar Khan.

The health department has reported nine fatalities attributed to dengue fever this year.​..

According to the health department, 79 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours alone, bringing the current number of active cases in the province to 436.

Among these, 24 patients have been admitted to hospitals for treatment. The most affected regions include Peshawar with 305 cases, Abbottabad reporting 132, Hangu with 115 cases, and Mansehra with 92 confirmed cases.​..

RAWALPINDI, Oct 10 (APP):As many as 70 more patients have been admitted in various allied hospitals during the last 24 hours in Rawalpindi after 111 patients were diagnosed with positive dengue symptoms.
According to the details released by District Health Authority on Thursday, 338 patients are under treatment in hospitals. Since January this year 2393 patients have been reported as dengue patients.​..

The Punjab Health Department on Saturday confirmed that 149 new cases of dengue were recorded across the province in the last 24 hours.

A total of 997 new cases were identified over the past week, taking Punjab’s dengue tally for 2024 to 3,285.

Rawalpindi remained the hardest hit reporting 134 cases, followed by Bahawalpur with three cases, and Lahore reporting two cases.

Sheikhupura, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Attock, Kasur, Mianwali, Khanewal, Nankana Sahib, and Narowal each reported one case.

Last week, the Punjab government declared a health emergency in Rawalpindi to curb the spike after 103 new cases were reported in the city amid fears of an outbreak of the disease.​..

SLAMABAD, Oct 18 (APP): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon on Friday chaired a review meeting to assess the current dengue situation in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
On the occasion, he called for stronger efforts to combat dengue as cases continue to rise in both the capital and its neighboring city, Rawalpindi.
All the assistant commissioners and health department representatives participated in the meeting, focusing on the comparison of dengue cases in twin cities.
During the meeting, officials were briefed on the alarming rise in cases. Rawalpindi has recorded a total of 3,220 dengue cases as of October 17, while Islamabad has reported 2,276 cases so far.
In the past 24 hours alone, 55 new cases reported in Islamabad. Health officials also highlighted the spread of dengue through mosquito breeding sites.​..

RAWALPINDI: As many as 115 more dengue cases were reported in Rawalpindi district on Friday, taking the tally of the season to 3955.

A large number of suspected patients arrived in Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital Raja Bazaar from 70 union councils of the city and 20 wards of Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonments.

Officials said 499 patients landed in the three government hospitals and 115 of them were later confirmed as dengue cases.​..

The National Institute of Health (NIH) has compiled a nationwide report on dengue cases, detailing data from January 1 to October 26, ARY News reported on Sunday, citing sources.

Dengue (break-bone fever) is a viral infection that spreads from mosquitoes to people. It is more common in tropical and subtropical climates.

According to details, the number of dengue cases is increasing in Pakistan as so far this year, the total number of dengue cases across Pakistan has reached 15,997 cases recorded, and ten fatalities reported nationwide, the sources said.

The report indicates that Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan have yet to share their dengue data with the federal government. However, the highest number of cases has emerged from Balochistan, where 6,831 cases have been reported, though no fatalities have occurred there this year.

In Punjab, 4,390 dengue cases have been recorded, with eight deaths, while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, there have been 1,853 cases and two fatalities.

Islamabad reported 2,714 cases, with no fatalities. Cases in Azad Kashmir reached 171, and former FATA recorded 38 cases, with no deaths reported in Azad Kashmir or Gilgit-Baltistan.​..

Dengue fever continues to spread in Rawalpindi, with 69 new cases reported in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of affected individuals this year to 5,921.

According to the Health Department, 175 individuals are currently hospitalized across various medical facilities in the district due to the dengue virus. Potohar Town has been identified as the most affected area, registering 33 new cases, while the Municipal Corporation has reported an additional 15 cases.​..

Pakistan ‘reports’ over 20,000 dengue cases in 2024

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported over 20,000 dengue cases in the ongoing year of 2024, ARY News reported on Wednesday, quoting sources within the NIH.

According to the report compiled by the National Institute of Health (NIH), Pakistan has reported 20,057 dengue cases from January 1 to November 15.

The sources said 10 people lost their lives due to dengue during the same period. The NIH sources told ARY News that Sindh and GB did not share the data regarding dengue cases so far.

As per a breakup of the cases, Balochistan remains on top with 6,958 dengue cases, while Punjab stands second with 5,405 dengue cases and eight deaths.​..
