Spokesman Prevention and Control Program of Dengue (PCPD) Sindh said a 34-year-old, Sultan Ali Sayani, resident of Diamond Super Market, district East area of Karachi, was brought to Aga Khan Hospital (AKU) a few days ago with dengue hemorrhagic fever.

A total of 1,658 dengue cases have been detected in Sindh province so far out of them, 1,585 were in Karachi and 73 in other districts.

Eight people have died due to dengue fever in Karachi this year so far.

Two women die of dengue fever in Rawalpindi hospitals

RAWALPINDI: Two women died of dengue fever at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) and the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Hospital on Saturday as 154 more patients landed in three government hospitals in the city.

Parveen Gulzar, 65, a resident of Lunda Bazaar, was brought to the DHQ hospital in a critical condition on Sept 11. She had also spent two days in the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) with a cardiac problem but was later referred to the DHQ hospital for the treatment of the dengue fever.

Sabeena Bibi, 50, a resident of Murree Road, was brought to the HFH in a critical condition on Sept 12. She was put on a ventilator on Friday and died on Saturday morning.

More than 2,000 dengue patients were brought to the HFH, Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) and the DHQ hospital during the last a few weeks.

At present, 485 dengue patients are admitted to the three hospitals; 154 of them arrived in last 24 hours against 168 who were discharged.

(MENAFN - Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne disease, has killed young newspaper vendor in Peshawar district on Monday.

According to details, Sheikh Mohammed's resident Tilah Mohammed had complained of fever some days ago. He arrived at Lady Reading Hospital, the province's largest medical centre, where, after preliminary tests, he was diagnosed with a dengue mosquito bite.

Later, He was admitted to the Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar for four consecutive days but despite the efforts of the doctors, he could not survive and died in the hospital. The late Tilah Muhammad belonged to a poor family who used to come to the newspaper market early in the morning to earn his living by selling newspapers in his particular area. He left behind two sons, five daughters and a widow.

Sixteen people have died of dengue in the country this year, according to the latest field data from the Emergency Operations Centre in Islamabad.

The most recent death was reported in Islamabad on Monday.

On September 16, 194 cases, the maximum number of cases, were reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including 88 from Peshawar. In Punjab, 95 cases were reported, including 82 in Rawalpindi, and 81 have been reported in Islamabad. Of the 36 cases reported in Sindh, 35 are from Karachi.


The surveillance report has declared the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi the worst affected with 163 cases recorded in the last 24 hours.

(MENAFN - Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: In an alarming development, two more dengue patients died in Peshawar on Saturday, while the disease continues to spread rapidly in most parts of KP.

The two girls who died of dengue fever belonged to Bahadur Killi area of Peshawar. They were identified as 17-year-old Nabeela and 13-year-old Remsha. Both were laid to rest in their village graveyard on Saturday. The Health Department did not confirm the death of girls due to dengue fever.

As many as 218 new patients have been tested positive with dengue in Pakistan’s Punjab province on Saturday.

A number of vector-borne diseases were reported from Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Lahore. As per the official figures, the total number of people tested positive of dengue in Punjab so far this year has rose to a whopping 3,211.

A spokesperson from the health department in Lahore said every possible treatment facility is being provided to the dengue patients and work on destroying dengue larvae has been intensified, The Dawn reported.

The official said of the total 3,211 dengue patients, 2,552 were discharged from the government and private hospitals. Of the patients who are still hospitalised, six were under treatment in the intensive care units (ICUs) while others were reported to be out of danger...

ISLAMABAD: There have been 2,777 cases of dengue this season in the capital, according to a report from the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS).

According to the report, which is available with Dawn, seven Islamabad residents have died of dengue. There have been more than 16,000 cases of dengue reported across the country.

The ministry is hoping that dengue cases will fall along with the temperature, but efforts are also being made to ensure every patient can be given a bed in hospitals...

The patient, Ghazanfar, was reportedly undergoing treatment at the Holy Family Hospital when he passed away.

RAWALPINDI: The dengue virus on Wednesday claimed another two lives in Rawalpindi, taking the death toll to 27 in the Rawalpindi.

According to reports, the first victim was Najma, a 55-year-old woman hailing from Rawalpindi, the other was man named Pervez, 50, from Islamabad and both the deaths were reported from Holy Family Hospital.

On Sunday, as many as 596 more people were diagnosed with dengue fever in Islamabad within a span of 24 hours. Sources relayed that 526 people were diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease at government-run hospitals and 70 at private medical facilities.

Meanwhile, in Sindh, the number of deaths owing to dengue fever has reached 12.

Dengue death toll hits 28 with three more fatalities

RAWALPINDI: At least three more people have died owing to dengue in the garrison city, taking the toll of the viral fever to 28 this year.

All three fatalities were reported from Holy Family Hospital (HFH) on Tuesday. The bodies have been handed over to the family.

The victims include 21-year-old Ghazanfar, 55-year-old Shafiq Umar and 50-year-old Pervaiz. Among the deceased, Ghazanfar and Umar were from Rawalpindi and Pervaiz was from Islamabad.

More than 400 people have been diagnosed with dengue fever in Karachi in the last three, Sindh health officials said Thursday.

In Sindh, 437 people have been diagnosed with the virus over the last three days. Of them, 406 people were from Karachi, said Dr Mehmood Iqbal Memon, in-charge of the Sindh anti-dengue cell.

In the last 24 hours, 162 cases of dengue fever were reported in the megapolis, according to Dr Memon. The total number of people affected by dengue fever in Karachi has reached 3,451 so far this year...

Pakistan is undergoing one of its worst-ever dengue fever epidemics recording about 20,000 cases and 34 confirmed deaths in recent months, a top Pakistani health official said.

The disease has hit urban areas of Pakistan, including the capital, Islamabad, placing hospitals countrywide under severe strain, Rana Mohammad Safdar, a top official at the National Institute of Health, said on October 3.

Authorities are conducting anti-mosquito spraying in urban areas to contain the spread of disease, the health official said.

Prolonged monsoon rains have been blamed for the outbreak, whereas the opposition has accused the government of not taking timely measures to prevent it, AP reported...

QUETTA: The Balochis?tan health department has confirmed that a total of 2,823 dengue cases were re??ported in three districts of the province in September. Three people have lost their lives.

A senior official of the health department on Wednesday said that these cases were reported in Gwadar, Kech and Lasbela.

He said Kech district was badly affected as 1,747 dengue cases emerged there while in the coastal district of Gwadar 872 dengue cases were detected. In Lasbela district 204 dengue cases were found, he added.

A special team from the DG health office had been sent to the affected areas, he said...

5,005 dengue cases reported in KP

PESHAWAR: A total of 5,005 dengue cases have been reported from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa thus far this year, the Dengue Response Unit (DRU) informed on Friday.

Around 75 new cases of dengue fever were reported and out of which 11 surfaced from Peshawar alone.

As per the date of DRU, 143 dengue patients are being treated at various hospitals in Peshawar.

Previously, the health department of Punjab had confirmed that 204 new patients of dengue fever were admitted to different hospitals across the province during the last 24 hours.

A total of 5650 dengue patients were reported this year, including 140 new cases were reported in Rawalpindi, 24 in Lahore so far, officials from the provincial health department told...
