GHALLANI: An 11-year-old boy suffering from measles died in Babi Khel, Ghallani, the headquarters of Mohmand Agency, an official of the political administration said on Friday. This is the first case to be reported this year.

SWAT: An eight-month-old child died on Tuesday in Kalagay Madyan, Swat; the cause of death is considered to be measles.

Four other children are said to be infected with the disease. Residents said Muhammad had died because of measles and had caught it as many other children in the area were infected.

MANSEHRA: According to villagers in Oghi tehsil, Mansehra, two young children died of measles. Health authorities, however, have yet to ascertain the cause of death.

Sher Noor, a resident of Kiyarbai village, said his eight-year-old son Niaz Muhammad developed a rash on his body a few days ago and was complaining of fever. They treated him with traditional medication but he did not survive and passed away on Tuesday. The village elders had diagnosed the rash as measles.

Another villager from the same area, Himat Wali, said his 11-month-old daughter Bakht Sana showed similar symptoms. She also died on the same day...

SWABI: The health department has sent its teams to mountainous villages of Gadoon Amazai belt for tackling the measles outbreak after reports that the disease has claimed life of a girl there.

According to reports reaching here, the measles-hit areas included Sokeelye, Sandwa and Talaye.

When contacted, people of these villages said that their children had been vaccinated regularly against various diseases, including measles, but despite that several of them had been affected by the disease. ..

KARACHI: The outbreak of measles in different villages of Thatta and Sajawal district has presented another challenge for the provincial health authorities after the Tharparkar crisis. At least two children have died in Thatta district and several others have reportedly been diagnosed with the viral disease over the last few days.
?Two deaths have been reported from Thatta,? confirmed the provincial health secretary, Iqbal Hussain Durrani. He said that the situation was under control and that all children of the province would be vaccinated soon.
Durrani told The Express Tribune that the affected areas of Thatta district were a priority and that his department would act promptly as 200 children had died last year.

A former adviser to the Sindh chief minister on relief and leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Haleem Adil Sheikh, visited Sujawal district with Pakistan Relief Foundation (PRF) officials, where the foundation says more than 40 children have died of measles in the past month.

PESHAWAR/CHARSADDA/SHANGLA/HANGU:

Four children have died in the province, reportedly after the administration of the measles vaccine, while reports of children fainting were received from two districts.

Two-year-old Mazhar, a resident of Shabqadar, Charsadda, died on Wednesday in a hospital in Peshawar, while three children died in the provincial capital late on Tuesday night. The deceased children hailing from Peshawar are two-year-old Hilal of Mandra Khel area, two-year-old Rida of the same village and one-year-old Abul Samand, a resident of Faqir Kalay.

Parents of the children claim they were administered the measles vaccine by health teams and soon after, the children began having an adverse reaction to the medicine ultimately leading to their death...

KARAK: Two minor brothers have died, while several others have been admitted to hospitals due to outbreak of measles in Ghundi Kala area of Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil.

Sources said on Friday that the two victims were identified as Mohammad Sunan and Mohammad Yousaf, sons of Shahid Khan.

The local people said that measles had also affected scores of other children who had been admitted to private hospitals for treatment. They appealed to the health department to send medical teams to the area to prevent further spread of the deadly disease...
