The three teaching hospitals in town have registered over 500 suspects of dengue fever so far this year while two cases have been confirmed positive for the infection at Benazir Bhutto Hospital on July 25.

After reports of confirmation of two cases of the infection from a family in Gawalmandi, many health experts have started fearing outbreak of dengue fever in town.

Administrations of Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC) and allied hospitals, however, claimed of being well prepared to deal with any untoward situation if occurs due to spread of dengue fever...

The three teaching hospitals in town have registered a total of 211 suspects of dengue fever so far this year of which only four have been tested positive for the infection, however, health experts believe that the population in this region of the country may face the real threat of dengue fever transmission in September.

Data collected by ?The News? has revealed that to date in 2014, the allied hospitals examined a total of 951 patients at the dengue fever counters specifically established for screening of the infection at the outpatient departments. The allied hospitals have registered as many as 138 suspects of dengue fever within last seven weeks...

After claiming scores of lives last year, the dengue fever returned to the province in a much milder form. No death has been reported from dengue so far this year, giving the impression that measures taken to combat the potentially deadly fever have been somewhat effective.

Authorities in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have recorded 115 cases in the current dengue season. The figure is a sharp decline from last year, when around 700 people were diagnosed with the virus from the start of the season till the end of August.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Malaria Control Program Coordinator, Dr Khalid Khan, said that according to the data available with them, 98% of the 115 cases reported across the province were from Swat...

About four dengue patients were reported during the last 24 hours, out of whom three belonged to Rawalpindi while one reported from Sheikhupura. RAWALPINDI: Four people died of dengue at the Holy Family Hospital in two days.

Officials said three of the deceased belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir.

Suleman Younus, 30, and Anwar Ali, 24, both residents of Haripur, were brought to the hospital two days ago. Younus died early Thursday while Ali on Wednesday. Muneeza Bibi from Palandari in AJK and Zubaida Bibi, 30, from Dhoke Syedan died on Wednesday.

In the meantime, 126 dengue patients arrived at the Benazir Bhutto Hospital, the HFH and the District Headquarters Hospital.

RAWALPINDI - The district government and other authorities concerned seem totally failed to control dengue, as 28 more new dengue patients landed in three teaching hospitals of the city on Monday, taking the tally of dengue patients to 804.

The three teaching hospitals of the city include Holy Family Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital and Benazir Bhutto Hospital. Meanwhile, a 60-year-old female patient died of dengue fever at Holy Family Hospital on the wee hours of Monday.

However, the administrations of HFH and high-ups of district health department have been trying to sweep the matter under the carpet, saying the cause of death was not dengue...
