Trick or Treat Night in Harrisburg PA

Mayor Stephen R. Reed reminds Harrisburg residents that Trick or Treat Night in Harrisburg and most of Dauphin County?s other municipalities will be held on Thursday, October 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The date and time for the fun-filled evening is annually set by the Dauphin County Chiefs of Police Association.
A few tips on keeping your kids safe as they enjoy the spooks and goblins.
*Always go in groups that are adult supervised and preferably during daylight hours.
*Turn your lights on and set your security alarm (if you have one) when leaving your house unattended.
*Don't let your kids enjoy the fruit of their labors until they have gotten home and their haul has been inspected.
*With the H1N1 virus becoming more wide spread, would suggest wiping down candy with a Clorex wipe as soon as you get home. You are inspecting it anyway so why not take that extra precaution to keep your family healthy.
*Avoid back alleys, abandoned lots and darkened streets when making your rounds.
*Have your child carry a flashlight (that are available at most dollar stores).
*Go over these tips with your kids and explain why you want to take safety precautions.
