Pa. official tells banks to plan for bird flu
Philadelphia Business Journal - 12:41 PM EDT Wednesday

Pennsylvania's secretary of banking urged the state's financial institutions to prepare for a possible flu pandemic in a letter Wednesday.

While there is no current threat, financial institutions need to consider how widespread absenteeism would affect their operations to ensure that consumers would have access to services if such an outbreak happens, Secretary of Banking Bill Schenck said.

The department of banking also urged other financial service providers, including mortgage companies and check cashers, to incorporate pandemic preparedness into their emergency business plans. Similar advisories have already been issued to national banking institutions and credit unions by federal regulators.

Re: Pa. official tells banks to plan for bird flu

I find this statement to be the most interesting found in the above article. Does anyone know when these were sent out? I would also be interested in what other institutions have been notified by federal officials.
