Erie County sees pertussis outbreak

Erie County is experiencing a pertussis outbreak.

Eleven cases of pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, have been reported in the county since Thanksgiving, according to the Erie County Department of Health.

The county usually has five to 10 reported cases a year...

UPPER ALLEN TOWNSHIP ? A student at Shepherdstown Elementary School in the Mechanicsburg Area School District tested positive for whooping cough, also known as pertussis, officials said in a letter sent home to parents on Friday.
