Outbreaks of H1N1 and dengue fever reported in Vietnam
Medical experts are worried about the recent outbreaks of the swine flu and dengue fever in the country.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health (MOH) said that medical workers were still able to control seasonal diseases like chicken box, rubella and measles but swine flu and dengue fever had developed a complicating way to resurface.
Soon after health authorities were able to contain three recent outbreaks of H1N1 flu in the southern provinces of Ben Tre, Binh Phuoc and the northern province of Dien Bien, the disease re-occurred in the northern province of Lao Cai.
The Department of Preventive Health in the province said that 103 students and staff members of Lao Cai high school showed symptoms of swine flu. Among those tested, 90 persons were found to have the H1N1 virus.
The health authorities have provided face masks to students and teachers as well as chemical sprays to disinfect the school area. All the students and teachers that tested positive have been quarantined.
More worrisome are the random H1N1 cases being reported elsewhere across the country, proving that the disease has spread throughout the country. In addition, there have been 10 fatalities within the last three months.
According to the National Institute of Hygiene Epidemiology, 80 percent of flu patients are infected with H1N1. This rate is equal to the same period in 2009 when outbreaks of H1N1 flu broke out across the globe...
