RAYAGADA: As many as four children have died of several water-borne diseases in Sanabacha village in Kashipur block within three weeks and 30 persons diagnosed with malaria in the same village.
Kasipur CdPO Nalini Bairagi informed that the deceased have been identified as Bina Majhi (13), Binod Majhi (5), Nandini Majhi (1) and Nayanti Majhi (11). She attributed the deaths to ignorance of villagers. ?Most of the medicines being provided by the administration are not being consumed by the villagers and instead, they take help of quacks to cure diseases,? Nalini said. Earlier this week, a team of doctors of Tikiri primary health centre (PHC) visited the village and conducted blood tests of all the villagers of whom, 25 were found positive for malaria. Chief district Medical Officer(CdMO), however, said that only two kids have died of fever and abdominal complications.
