PORTLAND ? A new, more aggressive species of mosquito is turning up across the Portland Metro area and raising health concerns.

Traps have been set up at 150 sites across the county, including the Kennedy Community Garden so experts can test the captured mosquitoes.

Specifically, Multnomah County Vector Control will be searching for the Rock Pool mosquito, which is native to Asia and first discovered here five years ago.

Experts believe the non-native species has been spreading. And now, instead of just coming out at dusk, the especially aggressive mosquito has been feeding all day long...
