Child dies of flu-related illness in Oregon, health officials say

PORTLAND, Ore. – A child died from flu-related illness in Oregon earlier this month, state health officials said.

The Oregon Health Authority’s (OHA) most recent flu report shows that the 2019-2020 season is peaking earlier than it has in the past three years.

So far, there have been 103 people hospitalized with flu-related illnesses in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties alone. More than a third of the patients fell into the age group of people 65 years or older, while one out of five patients was under 18 years old.

COOS BAY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT DIES FROM FLU, SCHOOL OFFICIALS SAY

The superintendent’s message said the student passed away Monday and the school crisis team would be available for students and staff.

COOS BAY, Ore. – Coos Bay Public Schools announced the death of a Marshfield High School student Monday.

Superintendent Bryan Trendell said the high school student passed away Monday morning due to complications of Influenza B.

School officials have not released the student’s identity.
