No influenza virus activity was detected by culture or PCR at the Oregon State Public Health Laboratory during this time period.

There have been no influenza-associated hospitalizations reported within the Portland Tricounty area since the beginning of the season (October 1, 2010).

RSV percent positivity was 10% for the week ending November 27th, 2010.

Since the start of official influenza surveillance in week 39 (October 1, 2010), the OSPHL has identified seven positive specimens, all of which were sub-typed by PCR as influenza A/H3. Three specimens were collected during week 50 (Dec 12-18) and four specimens were collected during week 51 (Dec 19-25). Positive specimens have come from patients in the Portland Metro region, Northeast Oregon/Gorge region, and Southern Oregon.

Influenza activity has remained fairly steady during Weeks 1-2 (Jan. 2 –15, 2011) in Oregon, although we are seeing more positive influenza specimens at the Oregon State Public Health Laboratory (OSPHL). Types/subtypes identified in the past two weeks include influenza B, influenza A/H3, and 2009 H1N1.

There have been two influenza-associated hospitalizations reported within the Portland Tri-County area during Weeks 1-2.

RSV season in Oregon began the week of December 26, 2011-January 1, 2011. RSV percent positivity was 28% for the week ending January 15, 2011.

Outpatient ILI: 2.32% (week 2); 1.42% (week 1)
20% positive specimens for influenza

Influenza activity decreased slightly during Week 5 (Jan. 30 – Feb. 5, 2011) in Oregon. Circulating types/subtypes identified so far this season include influenza B, influenza A/H3, and 2009 H1N1, all of which have been identified by the state laboratory in the past week.

There have been four influenza-associated hospitalizations reported within the Portland Tri-County area during Weeks 4-5. Total (since week 50) is 9.

There have been two influenza-related deaths reported in Oregon so far this season; both deaths occurred in adults during the week of January 16-22, 2011 (Week 3). Both patients tested positive for 2009 H1N1 influenza.

RSV season began officially in Oregon the week of December 26, 2011-January 1, 2011. RSV percent positivity was 37% for the week ending February 5, 2011.

Oregon has remained with "sporadic" activity during increased ILI and two deaths.

Here are the CDC definitions:
* No Activity: No laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza and no reported increase in the number of cases of ILI.
* Sporadic: Small numbers of laboratory-confirmed influenza cases or a single laboratory-confirmed influenza outbreak has been reported, but there is no increase in cases of ILI.
* Local: Outbreaks of influenza or increases in ILI cases and recent laboratory-confirmed influenza in a single region of the state.
* Regional:Outbreaks of influenza or increases in ILI and recent laboratory confirmed influenza in at least two but less than half the regions of the state with recent laboratory evidence of influenza in those regions.
* Widespread:Outbreaks of influenza or increases in ILI cases and recent laboratory-confirmed influenza in at least half the regions of the state with recent laboratory evidence of influenza in the state.

Levels of influenza-like illness (1.23%) detected by Oregon?s outpatient ILI network have decreased in Week 12, whereas the number of influenza-associated hospitalizations (thirteen) has increased slightly from Week 11.

62% positive for influenza (majority A/2009 H1N1)

RSV percent positivity was 21% for the week ending March 26, 2011; peak positivity was 39% during the week ending February 12.
