Another Orange County resident has died of complications from the H1N1 virus, bringing the total to 53, the Health Care Agency reported Monday.

The unidentified adult suffered from a pre-existing health condition, said spokeswoman Deanne Thompson. Of those who have died, four had no underlying medical conditions and four were obese, which is not officially a risk factor.

As of the 2000 census, its population was 2,846,293, though a July 2008 estimate placed the population at 3,010,759, making it the second most populous county in California, behind Los Angeles County and ahead of San Diego County.
