Albany boy dying from rare measles-related disease

Albany, ORE--- Until this past fall, 11-year-old Sean Alpapara of Albany was a healthy, active 5th grade student.
"He was flicking lights on and off, going to the bathroom so many times a day, would go back and forth kissing us---doing unusual stuff," his mom Emelyn "Em" Alpapara said, describing when Sean's behavior changed.
It progressed into nausea, vomiting, tremors and a loss of control of his body. The Alpaparas kept taking Sean to various doctors, but many tests could not determine what was wrong.
Then, about a month ago, doctors at Doernbecher Children's Hospital at OHSU figured it out: Sean had Dawson disease, a rare, neurological condition caused by the measles virus. Under 10 people in the United States are reported to have it each year...
