Washington measles outbreak spreads to Oregon, officials say

Oregon health officials say a Multnomah County resident has been diagnosed with measles, marking the first reported case of an infection in the state linked to a recent outbreak in Washington.

It?s not clear where in the county the person lives. The Oregon Health Authority announced Friday four new locations in Gresham, Wood Village and Troutdale where people may have been exposed to measles on Sunday and Wednesday.

The Multnomah County exposure locations have been identified as:

Legacy GoHealth Urgent Care, 22262 Northeast Glisan Street in Gresham from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20.
Fred Meyer, 22855 Northeast Park Lane in Wood Village from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20.
Gresham Troutdale Family Medical Center, 1700 Southwest 257th Drive in Troutdale from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 23.
Walgreens, 25699 Southeast Stark Street in Troutdale from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 23.

Authorities announced other locations last week, including the Moda Center during a Portland Trail Blazers game on Jan. 11...

3 New Confirmed Measles Cases In Oregon

Three Multnomah County residents are confirmed to have been diagnosed with measles. That brings the total number of measles cases in Oregon up to four.

The three individuals involved in the new cases were in close contact with the first Multnomah County resident who tested positive for measles Jan. 25, according to the Oregon Health Authority.

The people involved in these new cases stayed home while contagious, so there are no new public exposure sites where people might have come in contact with the disease...

Fifth possible measles case identified in Multnomah County, two exposure sites in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. ? Health officials are investigating a fifth possible cases of the measles in Multnomah County, Oregon amid a regional outbreak of the disease.

The previous four confirmed measles cases in Multnomah County were linked to the Southwest Washington outbreak, where health officials have identified 65 patients across Clark County.

At this point, officials have not identified a link between the fifth possible Multnomah County measles case and the Clark County cases.

?We are notifying people who were potentially exposed out of an abundance of caution,? said Dr. Jennifer Vines, Multnomah County deputy health officer. ?The good news is that measles is not spreading from Clark County to the Portland metro area.?

Officials said people may have been exposed to the measles at the following locations and times:

Portland International Airport: Tuesday, Feb. 19, 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Randall Children?s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel emergency department: 10:30 p.m Tuesday, Feb. 19 to 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20...

Traveler With Measles Visited Portland International Airport, Salem

The Oregon Health Authority reports that an individual contagious with measles visited the Portland International Airport as well as locations in Marion County in February.

The individual is a resident of Illinois and had recently been to countries where the measles is common. The individual is unimmunized against the virus.

The Oregon Health Authority identified these new locations as sites where people may have come in contact with the virus:

There have been 4 confirmed measles cases in Oregon related to an outbreak in Clark County, Washington. Six additional Oregon cases are not linked to the Washington outbreak. Most Oregonians have been vaccinated against measles, and their risk is low. Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that spreads easily to people who are not immune. It poses the highest risk to pregnant women, infants under 12 months of age and people with weakened immune systems.

9 new measles cases reported in Clackamas and Multnomah counties since beginning of July

Another measles outbreak in Oregon is bringing the total number of cases reported in the state this year to 23, the most since 1991, according to a news release from Multnomah County.

The outbreak reported today is the third in Oregon this year and involves nine cases in Clackamas and Multnomah counties confirmed since the beginning of July.

None of the nine people who came down with measles was immunized, according to health officials. Eight of the people who contracted the disease were under 18, officials said.

?We cannot pinpoint exactly when this outbreak started,? Multnomah County Deputy Health Officer Dr. Jennifer Vines said. ?A local resident had a measles-like illness in early July. Since then the additional cases have been limited to close contacts who were unvaccinated. Those individuals have been in close touch with public health during symptom watch.?...

PORTLAND, Ore. — A person with measles passed through Portland International Airport last Saturday, Oct. 12, Multnomah County officials said.

The person spent time in countries where measles is common and had not been immunized, officials said.

People may have been exposed at the airport between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 12. Officials are particularly concerned about anyone who is not vaccinated and spent time at international arrivals or passed through immigration.

This is the 15th reported case of measles in Multnomah County in 2019. There was a measles outbreak earlier this year in neighboring Clark County, Washington, where at least 70 people were infected with the disease...

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two new cases of measles have been discovered in Multnomah County, the Oregon Health Authority reported Saturday.

Both cases were on the same international flight that landed in the Portland airport on October 12, according to the Multnomah County Health Department. One person was a Lane County resident, while the other was a visitor. The OHA said that their illnesses are connected to an individual with the disease who also passed through the airport on the same day in October...

A Lane County resident and a Washington County visitor have been diagnosed with measles — the latest illnesses linked to a person with the disease who passed through Portland International Airport earlier this month...

...In Lane County, health officials identified three Eugene restaurants and one in Creswell as sites where people potentially may have been exposed to measles. On Oct. 21, that exposure was between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Creswell Bakery, and from noon to 4 p.m. at The Bier Stein in Eugene. On Oct. 23, the exposure was between 4 p.m and 7 p.m. at Blue Mist Restaurant and Bar, and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at North Fork Public House, both in Eugene, the release stated...

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Officials say an unvaccinated child in southwestern Washington has contracted the measles after travelling internationally.

Clark County Public Health officials said Wednesday that the child passed through the Portland International Airport and PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver Nov. 14 while contagious.

The child also visited Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel in Portland from Nov. 16 to Nov. 17.

The agency warned that people may have been exposed to the virus. Anyone exposed who is susceptible to the virus could start having symptoms between Nov. 18 and Dec. 9...
