Multnomah County is tracking a case of measles. As many as 40 people may have contracted the highly contagious disease.

Multnomah County released the following news release on Monday, confirming a case of measles in the Portland metro area. Since last week, health officials have worked to notify about 500 individuals of their potential exposure...

...Officials confirmed the case on June 27 in a person who visited a local emergency room and spent time in a Gresham childcare center. Because most people in our area have been vaccinated against measles, the risk to the general public is low. For this exposure, public health officials expect symptoms in anyone newly infected to appear by mid-July at the latest...

PORTLAND, Ore. ? Multnomah County health officials confirmed a second case of measles Friday.

Officials say the second person had been in close contact with the first person who was diagnosed with measles on Wednesday, June 27.

Multnomah County Communicable Disease Services notified the second person of their exposure to make sure the person stayed home and away from others. The person remained in daily contact with Multnomah County?s health team to check for symptoms...

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Health officials in northwestern Oregon say a third person has tested positive for measles.

Multnomah County health officials tell KATU-TV that the person, who was not vaccinated, tested positive Friday.

Officials say the person had close contact with another person diagnosed with measles on July 6...

KPTV Staff -- Laboratory testing confirmed a case of measles in an individual who traveled for a week throughout the Portland metro area on Saturday...
...Officials confirmed the case on Friday, in a person who was infectious and spent
time in the Portland metro area from July 30 to Aug. 6.

Public health officials said they working directly with area businesses where the sick individual spent time.

The risk may be higher for unvaccinated persons who were in these locations:
