Influenza A is propagated to the "risk model"
The number of vulnerable patients at risk was 50 percent of the population of Argentina.

By Dr. Edgardo Trivisonno (*), especially for NOVA Agency.

Influenza h1 n1 ceased to be the disease of the affluent class. Already more than a thousand cases and seven deaths, five in Buenos Aires and two in the city of Buenos Aires. In addition there are over 60 houses (cases) of which one third are serious. Unfortunately we have lost seven Argentine children, adolescents and young adults.

According to the report of the Ministry of Health, these deaths are associated with a 20 percent to so-called "risk groups", as vectors of disease background predisposes to fatal complications of influenza as well as the seasonal influenza.

Subtracts whether children, adolescents and young adults who died of causes such as meningitis and pneumonia that were positive for influenza was caused by pulmonary or extrapulmonary locations of the virus, or had complications from bacterial meningitis or pneumonia.

Argentina occupies the fourth place of death within the 89 countries affected by the pandemic, but the second in the case fatality rate (0.7 percent) of the disease. After Mexico (1.6 percent), Chile is the South American country with more cases than three-thousand-but with a rate of 0.1 percent.

At home, the increased mortality is not due to increased aggressiveness of the native virus.

Among the vulnerable are not only 30 percent of Argentines suffering from cardiovascular disease, or 10 percent of diabetics, or the three million who suffer from chronic lung diseases, or over 130 thousand cases of HIV or AIDS or immunosuppressed renal patients by different causes.

If we add the amount of risk population reaches 20 million Argentines. But the deaths were in people of short and middle-aged, all with no background disease have increased risk of morbidity and mortality.

The concern of the authorities is the spread of the virus, as expected from the poor of Argentina. It is also important to note that 50 percent of the nation's children live in poverty.

Becomes the vicious circle of poverty and disease. Are weak in terms of social vulnerability that more will become sick and die.

The collapse of systems of patient care in hospital are added. It is not the same flu in a well-nourished children, with medical examination, vaccination schedule, complete with access to medicine and favorable living conditions, than those who lack the basics for survival.

The number of vulnerable patients at risk was 50 percent of the population of Argentina.

There are 20 million Argentines who have no access to minimal care, the increase in poverty climbed to 30 percent of the population, the strong inequality between rich and poor 30 times, deteriorating health services and lack of a health policy of universal coverage is a more accurate explanation of why we have proportionately higher mortality. We are more like Mexico than Chile.

The growth was not accompanied by better social indicators and the necessary investment in basic structural changes the country needs-housing, water supply, sewers, ensure sufficient and adequate food for all. What measures are being done for spasmodic attack symptoms and not the disease's social base.

Epidemics stripped the system failures. One can not avoid the increased morbidity in patients at risk and most vulnerable in society.

Always have the least pay the higher costs.

The overlapping epidemics of disease over a seasonal map Sociomedical underdevelopment can make the health system collapse. Unfortunately we regret to disease and death by not having effective social and health policies in spite of the historic economic growth.

Social justice passed into oblivion, the surplus money was not to combat the evils of Argentina structural poverty and inequality.
